Risks Involving Teenage Abortion
Teenage abortion comes with health risks that can possibly lead to threatening short and even long term troubles with the expectant mother’s health. These risks are of greater possibility most especially if there are identified health problems such as an STD (sexually transmitted disease), anemia (deficiency in red blood cells) and addiction to drugs.
Sad to say, one inevitable risk that comes with abortion is death. Apart from the health risks brought about by abortion is the psychological problems coupled with abortion. This may include severe depression, sadness and guilt that the mother has to cope with. These psychiatric disarrays are most likely experienced as a post-abortion traumatic disorder leaving the mother in a very devastated state of mind and mental condition.
Other complications fall under physical problems like infection, maltreated cervix, blood clots that can be found in the uterus and worse, incomplete abortions that leave some fetal parts and tissues in the uterus. Allergic reactions to medications that were induced at the time of the procedure are the expected minor complications.
This risky procedure may also trigger other problems like heavy bleeding that may possibly call for the need of blood transfusions. This bleeding happens internally when walls of the uterus are punctured during the procedure. If these complications are not treated well, it can even escalate to increased risks in the mother’s future pregnancy. Abortion practices can most likely damage the uterus and provoke infertility. Another negative probability is the occurrence of miscarriages accounted to weakened cervix that was forced open at the time of the abortion procedure.
A lot of complication stories about pregnancy termination or abortion have been told. Some stories are traumatic and some are tragic aftermaths. Aborting pregnancies does not actually take care of teenage crises. It is even believed to be the beginning of more crises to come if teenagers turn to this way out. What is more important is that these young women be made aware with the effects of abortion in order to shape up and form an informed decision.
Complications rooting from abortion do not only include physical damage. On the list is spiritual damage resulting from abortion. Suicidal tales and separation from God, among others, are some of the few things that shake the once steady faith of the teenager. Furthermore, the support and demonstration of this practice is but a mere manifestation of one’s complete neglect to His existence.
