Pregnancy—a word that stages a symphony of emotions and questions culminated by the life-changing decisions. Whether you’re a young individual madly in love or a mother of four who has seen the transition from diapers to diplomas, unexpected pregnancy will almost always strike every nerve that envelops your whole body.

Take time to allow the initial blow to recede. For what came as a shock will gradually sink in not only to the parents-to-be but also to their respective families.

When a woman is faced with pregnancy, she’ll be greeted by three options, each having its own pros and cons and each possessing its own weight. It may prove to inhibit a person from living a normal life or it could be an uplifting feeling.

To Be A Parent. The statement alone can stimulate fear, vulnerability, and uncertainty. Yes, it is challenging but at the same time, it is rewarding as well. A parent is not merely a spectator, a parent plays a pivotal role in shaping the life of her young. Your child is an extension of what you are, of how you reared him, and how you decided to keep him.

There are a lot of considerations attached when opting to be a parent. Marriage is always part of it. Will the biological father accept the responsibility that comes along? Another would be the role of the immediate family. This includes financial assistance, childcare, and other arrangements. Aside from asking help from your kin, seek aid from society. Are you eligible to access various community and government programs like the WIC (Women, Infants, and Children)? These are a few important points that needs to be deliberated.

Adoption. When a parent is going for adoption, it is but proper that a decision be founded on sufficient information. You’ll be presented with various adoption plans, whether it be for an open adoption or otherwise. Selecting the ideal plan for your child will ensure that he will be well cared for and his future well thought of. Placing your child for adoption does not mean that you’ll have no control over your child’s future.

Adoption allows you to choose the family to whom you’ll be entrusting your child and other details that is part and parcel of adoption. Also, you can determine the relationship that you’ll be having with your child and with the adoptive parents. But one must remember that in most states, when the child reaches 6th month old, adoptions are tagged as final.

Abortion. As mentioned earlier, each decision is coupled with pros and cons. As for abortion, it contains risks that may prove serious in the long run. No decision comes easy. One can only make sound judgments and hope everything turns out as expected. Pertinent information with regards to the types of abortion, the stakes involved and the risks accompanying the same must be consciously calculated to be able to land on an educated choice.

These questions may help you in the process. Are you being pressured to succumb to abortion? Are you fully aware of the consequences that your actions may bring? Are you a carrier of a disease such as STD? What does the state law says about the topic? What does your family say? Remember, this is a decision that is yours to make, opposing opinions may parade your mind, but in the end such judgment is yours to render.
