Glucose is an important source of energy for the body. It is one of the sugar molecules that go directly into our bloodstream after digestion. However, it needs insulin in order to penetrate the cells of our body.

Insulin is produced by the pancreas. Once glucose is released into the bloodstream after digestion, the pancreas excretes an increased amount of insulin. This chemical allows your cells to absorb the glucose and transform it into body energy. Such process helps us maintain normal blood sugar levels.

Placental development is very important during pregnancy. As such, improper placental growth can lead to serious fatal complications. One of this is placenta previa.

During the early stages of pregnancy, the placenta is implanted in the lower part of the uterus of a woman. As the uterus gradually expands, the placenta moves upward, away from the cervix. However, if there are scars in the lining of the uterus or if the placenta grows too large, the placenta may cover the cervix. Such condition is referred to as placenta previa.

If you are in your fifth month of pregnancy and you are experiencing headaches, dizziness, nausea, sudden weight gain and upper abdominal pain, then you better visit your physician right away. Such may be the usual symptoms of pregnancy. However, these symptoms are also considered as the primary signs of pre eclampsia, especially if you also experience changes in your visual senses and swelling.

Pre eclampsia, also known as pregnancy-induced hypertension is very typical for women especially during the last trimester of their pregnancy. It is basically characterized with an increased blood pressure along with the presence of excess protein in the urine. Basically, the excess protein indicates complications in the kidney.

Basically, miscarriage refers to the loss of pregnancy before the fifth month. Most miscarriages occur even before the pregnancy reaches its third month of development. According to the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ACOG), about fifteen percent of known pregnancies around the globe lead to a miscarriage.
