Apart from surgical abortions, there are abortion pills that are used as an alternative means for early abortions. When a woman induces an abortion pill, this kind of abortion is said to be a medical abortion. Just recently, the American Food and Drug Administration (FDA) approved two abortion pills that are used to cause medical abortion. Both mifepristione and mosiprostol are the active ingredients of both approved abortion pills and when combined, they claim to have a very high success rate of abortion with basically up to ninety-five to ninety-seven percentage of effectiveness.

These abortion pills are entirely different from what is commonly known as morning-after pills or Emergency Contraception pills. If emergency contraception pills are used to prevent an imminent pregnancy, the abortion pills are used to terminate a confirmed pregnancy. Emergency contraception pills are usually taken after an unprotected sexual intercourse. Similarly, the emergency contraception pills are to be taken right after the intercourse. It is best when taken within twenty-four hours but is still effective up to seventy-two hours after the intercourse. Once confirmed to be pregnant, abortion pills, on the other hand, can be used to terminate the pregnancy for so long as it has not been over the eight week of the mother’s pregnancy.

Most women prefer the conduct of abortion through these abortion pills instead of the surgical abortions carried out in the premise of a medical clinic because abortion through pills can be carried out at the comfort of one’s home. In this case however, it is advised that a mother intending an abortion through pills must consult a health professional to secure a prescription of the dosage of both mifepristone and misoprostol abortion pills.

As a common fact, teenage abortion has not been regarded as a saintly act. But to some youngsters caught up in a situation of being pregnant in the wrong time, it is a great help on hand. Before deciding to undergo one, here are a few disadvantages to be aware of.

  • It does not give the child that is in the womb a chance at life, thus it is looked down upon by many religions.

This applies more specifically to Christians who have immense belief in life being so sacred. No one has his or her own right to take life into its end. Suicide is one of the examples of unacceptable human acts. Another one is abortion, may it be by a teenager or an adult. It is also condemned as an act of sin.

When teenagers resort to abortion, fingers can be pointed at a lot of reasons the mother can justify with. Bearing a child will require a lot of responsibility that the mother, at a very young age, may not be ready to deal with. If the mother decides to take on the challenge of parenting, this is where forced motherhood comes in.

Forced motherhood can give way to negative consequences to the growth of the child. If parenthood is something that is felt as compulsory, this may bring about unlikely effects to the upbringing of the child and seriously affecting the child’s perspective in life in general.

Some of the unlikely costs when a mother is forced to bear the child may include emotional disadvantages to the child. More often than not, the child may always feel withdrawn, indifferent and aloof. The feeling of being unwanted may surface even at an early age, making the child feel like he or she has little worth to the family he or she was born to.

Teenage abortion comes with health risks that can possibly lead to threatening short and even long term troubles with the expectant mother’s health. These risks are of greater possibility most especially if there are identified health problems such as an STD (sexually transmitted disease), anemia (deficiency in red blood cells) and addiction to drugs.

Sad to say, one inevitable risk that comes with abortion is death. Apart from the health risks brought about by abortion is the psychological problems coupled with abortion. This may include severe depression, sadness and guilt that the mother has to cope with. These psychiatric disarrays are most likely experienced as a post-abortion traumatic disorder leaving the mother in a very devastated state of mind and mental condition.

Other complications fall under physical problems like infection, maltreated cervix, blood clots that can be found in the uterus and worse, incomplete abortions that leave some fetal parts and tissues in the uterus. Allergic reactions to medications that were induced at the time of the procedure are the expected minor complications.

Teenage abortion never fails to gain public attention over time. We see it all over the papers, and on a heated debate. While people take sides, pitch in views and judge a seemingly identified miscalculated action in the practice of abortion, it does not seem to pull the plug out of the growing rate of teenage abortion in the globe.

Statistics will tell us that in the United States alone, quite a number of teenagers are tallied to have committed the abortion procedure. Year in and year out, about fifty percent of this practice is performed on women who are under the age of twenty five and are as young as eighteen and nineteen years of age. Worse, these teenagers, who are convinced to take the easy way out through terminating their pregnancies, are getting younger and younger. Facts claim that these misguided teenagers who were nineteen years old women have dropped dramatically to as young as seventeen-year-old teenagers. If this trend continues, it is imminent that more and more teenagers will be convinced to put abortion into practice if they will be faced with unplanned pregnancy dilemma.

At this day and age, about twenty-one states in America entail the permission of parents before the conduct of abortion. This gets to show that abortion is actually legal in United States provided that the patient who undergoes the practice will seek her parents’ permission on the matter. On the other hand, about fourteen states in America require notification from parents. The law says this is to notify the parents but not necessarily to ask for their permission to proceed with the procedure.

When in the case of early pregnancy, having a baby is not a desirable idea. One of the main reasons that influence a teenager’s decision to opt for an abortion is the deprivation of an easier life. Parenting a child is not a joke. It requires a lot of experience to learn on becoming a parent. To others, this may mean extremely great burden thus leaving most teenagers with no choice but to correct it by having an abortion. If such choice is final, the main question one will ask is “Where should I go?”.

An abortion clinic is the right place to terminate one’s pregnancy. Safety is certainly assured here as the procedure is carefully performed by experienced and certified doctors. Doing such medically-inclined practice needs to be done precisely to eliminate or reduce complications if there are any. There are cases when abortion is not carried out correctly which every person should avoid. One if its lifetime effects can be a limitation of being pregnant again, say when one is in her proper age and wants to get married. This means ending the woman’s chance to have children if such complications happen.

Most procedures being performed are kept in privacy especially in the cases of teenagers where they do choose not to inform their parents about it. The parents are not informed as per the decision of the teenager.

Nowadays, teenagers have a higher probability of making an impulsive judgment when confronted with problems of early pregnancy. It is a shameful and a scary thing to deal with. Eventually, teens attempt to hide it from anybody, most especially from their parents, by drastically opting for an abortion without considering future consequences.

There are a lot of studies conducted about behaviors and psychological effects of teenage abortion for the reason that it has been increasing as generation progresses. It was found out that teenage abortion does not only affect the pregnant teen for the time being, but usually over her lifetime as the outcome of it becomes permanent. Teens, typically, have immature strategies in coping up with the situation. They cannot easily recover and consequently end up acting out in denial when dealing with other people. This behavior will greatly influence their way of living and dealings with different people. Others survive the dilemma and end up successful but some stays in the nightmare of their past and become less productive.

This brings us to a common question, “What should I do?”. Teen abortion is a complicated situation as one has to truthfully confront her parents. It may become a lighter burden if her partner will always be there to support her, but generally, teen moms-to-be are left out all alone by their partners due to cowardice. This adds up to the depression that teens feel when faced up to this problem. In view of this, teenagers are definitely encouraged to engage their parents in every decision-making, whether it is about having an abortion or other better options available. It might not be as simple as ABC but a courageous try is worth everything. This might not be very well practiced in other cultures but when one is on that bridge, this is the best way to deal with the problem. Parental support is vital in every aspect of a teenager’s life most importantly in cases such as this. So before something results into a haste undoing a mistake, both sides should communicate.

These marks are an unwavering reminder of what transpired in the past few months.

For individuals who prefer to go ‘natural’ and dare not touch chemical and commercial products, olive oil is the ideal item that may assist you in your brawl against the unsightly marks. Pour a generous amount of liquid in your hand and massage the same to the areas where stretch marks thrive. Daily application is advised, once in the morning and another in evening.
